Holiday Blog Tour with Raspberry Creek Fabrics

It’s that time of year again! I am so excited that I was asked to join the Raspberry Creek Fabrics Holiday Blog Tour this year. There are so many awesome makes that are sure to inspire, so be sure to stick around all week long! (You can check out the RCF blog HERE.) Raspberry Creek is also giving away a $100 shop credit everyday of the tour on their Instagram account and it’s super easy to enter! Be sure to pop on over!

If you are new around here, hello! My name is Trissa. I’m a self taught seamstress and I’ve been sewing for almost 8 years. I have two crazy kids (4 year old boy and 2 year old girl) that keep me on my toes and have me sewing all the things while they sleep.

I was on the fence for what fabric I wanted to use for my kids’ pajamas but finally settled on the Milk and Cookies print on CLUB Jersey. It’s so stinking cute! And even more so in person! I got a few different coordinating fabrics (red, green, light milk chocolate, mint green) but my kids both chose the minty green (it looks a little more bluish IRL). It was the perfect pairing to bring out the mint in the fabric.

One of my favorite things about the holidays is matching pajamas! Sometimes I’m not motivated enough to sew a pair for myself and my hubby, but my kids are sure to get a matching pair. My all time favorite pajama pattern is the Movie Night Pajamas from Sew A Little Seam. I have made my son numerous pairs and I’ll continue to make them because they are just so good! What’s even better, they are free! There is a code in the Sew A Little Seam Facebook Group to use at checkout (and it works on all the different versions of the Movie Night PJs).

My little man is a thin, so I typically have to sew a smaller width and lengthen it for his height. When I sew the Movie Night Pajamas, I just sew for his height with no other adjustments. It fits great and allows for longer wear. I love that the top is a little on the longer end too. This is the size 4, short sleeves and a yoga waistband on the pants. Super quick sew! And I cut the whole thing out on my projector.

I also did a sew along for the Movie Night Pajamas with tons of videos (if you need a little extra help). You can find all those posts HERE

Normally, I would make a pair of Movie Night Pajamas for my daughter but nightgowns are so stinking cute! So naturally I had to sew up the Nightingale from Sew A Little Seam for her. She’s a petite little 2 year old, so I sewed up the 9mo width and lengthened it to 18mo. I probably could have lengthened the dress a tad more, so I decided to add a rolled hem to minimize the length that would have been lost from hemming.

As to be expected with Sew A Little Seam patterns, the Nightingale is packed with options! I love the look of gathers, so I did the gathered bodice with gathered sleeves. When I did the gathered sleeves, I pushed all the gathers to the middle of the sleeve cap, rather than dispersing it the length of the basting stitches. It makes it more of a puff and I love how it looks!

Thanks for stopping by my corner of the internet! Be sure to check out all the stops on the tour this week and don’t forget to enter the daily Instagram giveaways!

Happy sewing!
