Willow SewAlong – Welcome!

Can you believe Easter is right around the corner?! Why not have a sew along to give some extra motivation for some Easter Dresses! Or some everyday, super adorable tops and dresses. I know Brooklyn already needs all the options. The Willow Top, Tunic and Dress is the newest pattern from Sew A Little Seam. It features a scoop or v back with options for both knit and woven. There are multiple sleeve options, skirt lengths, a ruffle bodice, pleated neckline, a super cute button back, an option for fully lined (reversible in knit) and it is offered in sizes 3m-12y and PLUS 4y-12y (with a bundle option as well).

Sew Along Dates

March 30th through April 4th

Iโ€™ll be using the hashtag willowsal for easy finding of the sew along threads in the SALS FB group, in case posts arenโ€™t showing up in your feed and you would like to play along (also for easy findings after the sew along is over). Iโ€™ve also created a facebook event for the sew along to hopefully help with notifications.

Prizes/Giveaway and how to enter

We are going to change things up a little bit this time and have a prize every day of the sew along! There will also be a grand prize at the end. A big thanks to both Kelly (Sew A Little Seam) and Amanda (Mily Mae Fabric) for providing us prizes!

If you are new to sew alongs, hereโ€™s how it typically worksโ€ฆEach day of the sew along I will post in the Sew A Little Seam Facebook Group the daily tasks for that specific day and a link to the blog post with all the things you need to know for that day. (Each blog post will also be linked above under the schedule each day) There will be videos if applicable (which will still be available after the sew along is over).

In order to be eligible to win, either the daily prizes or the grand prize at the end, you must be an active sew along participant. This means commenting with your progress on each of the daily posts. If you show up late, donโ€™t worry! You are more than welcome to back post. There will also be a separate post for you to comment with your completed Willow on the final day of the sew along, which is required and your entry for the grand prize. This must me a new sew during the sew along to be eligible for any prizes and winners will be chosen at random.

Daily prize winners will be announced on the following day and the grand prize winner will be announced on April 7th.

Fabric

Mily Mae Fabrics is sponsoring us for this sew along! There is a coupon for 15% off until the sew along begins on March 30th, so head on over HERE to join the party and get the code! If you need to order fabric, I would suggest doing so sooner than later to ensure that it will arrive before the start of the sew along.

There are so many fabric options that can be used for the Willow! The knit bodice is designed for fabrics with at least 40% horizontal and 20% vertical stretch. (If you need help determining the stretch percentage of your fabric, see HERE) Good options include jersey knit, stretch velvet, and scuba knits. The woven bodice is made for non-stretch fabrics such as cotton lawn, voile, lace, and rayon challis.

Notions

Depending on the option you choose, you may also need 1/4โ€-3/8โ€ clear elastic (knit versions), buttons/snaps and interfacing (placket version), and/or 1/4โ€ elastic (wide gathered sleeve) in addition to matching thread. Make sure you have the proper needles for your fabric choices! Stretch/Ballpoint for knits and universal for wovens.

If you have any questions throughout the sew along, feel free to ask away!

Thatโ€™s all for now but I look forward to โ€œseeingโ€ you in a few weeks! Happy sewing!

Cheers!
