Joggerathon – Closet Core Patterns – Plateau Joggers

I am SO excited I was able to add the Plateau Joggers from Closet Core Patterns to the list! A little back story…One of the fabrics I got from Olga’s Closet in prep for the Joggerathon did not have much stretch at all (I didn’t realize it until I got it in the mail since no stretch percentage was listed on the website). Basically all the joggers require at LEAST 30% stretch or more so I thought “Great, can’t use this one for joggers!”. And then one of my girlfriends told me about the Plateau and I just had to add them to the list! And guess what?! They have a 15% stretch requirement, which is hardly anything, so I was able to use the fabric after all! Winning!

The Plateau Joggers have a high rise, unique wrap-around front pockets and a comfy elastic waist (with an optional drawstring). The pants version have an option for cuff or encased elastic and the shorts option has a gently scalloped hem. Optional back pockets can be added to either views.

* The Joggerathon is going on ALL month long. If you would like to go back and see any of the previous posts on the Joggerathon, click HERE or to see the pattern line-up, click HERE.

Fabric

The fabric I used for this pair is the Navy Double Brushed French Terry from Olga’s Closet. This fabric is super soft! It’s a medium weight fabric, 220 gsm and a Poly/Rayon/Spandex blend (87%/10%/ 3%). This fabric has 2-way stretch but it is a VERY minimal 2 way stretch. Like 15-20% if that. It reminds me of fleece, so keep that in mind if you pick fabric for specific projects.

Recommended Fabric: Thicker knit fabrics like cotton fleece, polar fleece, French terry, ponte, and double knits with at least 15% crosswise stretch. For a lighter pair of joggers, choose medium to heavy weight jersey knits

Instructions

Were the instructions easy to follow?

  • I cut the pattern out on my projecr using the copyshop/A0 file. Just a heads up, the cuffs are missing! So if you use a projector, be prepared to print out the cuffs since there isn’t a cut chart in the instructions (that I could see anyway)
  • Other that that missing piece, I had no issues with the instructions.
  • Make sure you mark your notches so you can easily line everything up!

Pattern

DID IT LOOK LIKE THE PATTERN PHOTO/DRAWING ON THE PATTERN ONCE YOU WERE DONE SEWING?

Yes it did!

WHAT DID YOU PARTICULARLY LIKE OR DISLIKE ABOUT THE PATTERN?

  • The wrap around pocket does take a little bit longer to sew up but I LOVE that detail! It’s super fun!
  • Yes, these are meant to be high rise but I don’t love it lol. I think that’s the main thing I don’t like about these joggers but that’s just me. I only like my leggings high rise
  • The cuffs feel a tad tight when I pull them over my feet but they are fine when they are on. This fabric is definitely on the less stretchy side though, so a little bit more stretch and it would be fine.
  • I really like the comfy fit of these! They are definitely relaxed but they don’t feel baggy or anything.

WOULD YOU SEW IT AGAIN? WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT TO OTHERS?

I definitely would sew it again! I actually have some fabric that I’m pretty sure needs to be a pair of Plateau Joggers. I’ll just ever so slightly modify it to have a shorter rise. Yes, these are definitely one of the more expensive joggers, but Closet Core never disappoints! If you like the style and don’t mind the higher tag, I say go for it! And they have a pretty good size range, which is always a plus.

Have you sewn up the Plateau Joggers? What are your thoughts? I’d love to know in the comments below! If you missed the Brindille and Twig – Track Pants yesterday, you can check that out HERE. Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for the Lounge Pants from Hallå!

Cheers!
