Joggerathon – Love Notions – Resolution Bottoms

Welcome to day 12 of the Joggerathon! Next up is the Resolution Bottoms from Love Notions. One neat thing about these is that it’s 5 patterns in 1! Joggers, straight leg yoga pants, bootcut yoga pants, leggings and moto leggings. There are also 2 waistband options (yoga and contour), a back yoke detail and pockets.

* The Joggerathon is going on ALL month long. If you’d like to see the pattern lineup and get more information, click here! Don’t forget to vote for your favorite!

Fabric

I used the Eggplant/Mauve Watercolor Floral on Oatmeal French terry from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. This is a medium weight, 95/5 cotton spandex blend that is 10-11 oz. It has approximately 50% 4-way stretch. I used the Solid Blush Pink FT for the bands

Recommended Fabric: Light to medium weight fabric with at least 25% 2-way stretch

Instructions

Were the instructions easy to follow?

I totally missed the instructions for the yoga waistband and thought it wasn’t there at first! But it’s because there are no illustrations for the yoga waistband, only the contour on the next page. Other than that, no issues with the instructions.

Pattern

DID IT LOOK LIKE THE PATTERN PHOTO/DRAWING ON THE PATTERN ONCE YOU WERE DONE SEWING?

I feel like my jogger version looks a little looser than some of the jogger versions that are on the pattern listing. My upper thigh is .25″ smaller than the measurement but that seems like such a small number to make a big difference.

WHAT DID YOU PARTICULARLY LIKE OR DISLIKE ABOUT THE PATTERN?

  • There is a projector file, however, it is not very user friendly for a projector. It’s kind of like a mix and match for the joggers where you line up the top half with the bottom half. It would be a lot easier if it were printed so you could just lay the two pieces of paper together. For cutting on a projector, you have to cut one half, stop, line up the other half that you started cutting so you could finish cutting the rest of the leg. I ain’t got time for that! So instead, I used Inkscape to put the pieces together so it was all one piece. Took a little bit of extra time, but well worth it IMO.
  • The back yoke is fun, but I don’t know if I like it in a contrasting fabric. I’m still undecided.
  • I wonder if maybe I’d like it better if the fabric had a little less stretch.
  • I don’t like how tall the yoga waistband is. (I’d probably do a shorter waistband and add 2″ elastic, since I’m sure y’all know by now that’s my jam!)

WOULD YOU SEW IT AGAIN? WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT TO OTHERS?

There are so many different pants included in this one pattern so I might try another version. I probably wouldn’t sew the joggers again though.

Since there are a ton of different options included in this pattern, it might be a good choice if you fit within the size range. The only downside is there are only 7 sizes with a smaller hip range.

Have you sewn up the jogger version of the Resolution bottoms? What are your thoughts? I’d love to know in the comments below! If you missed the Valparaiso’s from Little Lizard King yesterday, you can check that out by clicking HERE. Be sure to come back tomorrow for the Women’s Joggers from Lowland Kids

This fabric is nice and the legs look like the right amount of comfy ease. I’m not sure about the contrast colour back yoke either. Maybe if that was the only contrast colour and the waistband was the same colour as the pants the effect would be different 🤷🏽‍♀️

I have made these and wasn’t too happy about the lack of ease in the thighs, but that could be me. I skipped the back yoke since there’s no shaping in that seam at all, I saw no point. The contour waistband is good though, stays up nicely on larger waists. Many people use it on lots of other knit pants as a default
