Joggerathon – Regular Fit Comparison (Part 1)

Hello, hello! Welcome to the second round of comparisons! The jogger patterns I am comparing in this post are all listed as regular fit (not completely relaxed and not slim) based on the pattern instructions or listing description. If you would like to read the (more detailed) individual pattern reviews for any of the patterns in this post, you can find each one of them linked below. Fabric

All the fabric from this past week are from Raspberry Creek Fabric. This company has a special place in my heart. I’ve been purchasing fabric from them since 2015 (back in the day when more shops were on Etsy)! The three solid pairs are 4-way stretch FT with spandex – sage, blush pink and royal blue. The cactus and purple floral are on the oatmeal FT base. It is a 95/5 Cotton/Spandex blend and is 11-12 oz. The blue floral is on the CLUB FT base, which is also a 95/5 Cotton/spandex blend. The print is retired but RCF is always coming out with new prints!

Below is a breakdown of pertinent information for each pattern and how they compare to each other. The side-by-side fit comparisons follow and are conveniently numbered for easy reference. ** You can click on each image below to view it larger.** My brief thoughts are at the end of this post. If you want a more detailed review, use the links above to view the individual posts.

Overall Thoughts

I’ve decided that I definitely don’t like a contrasting back yoke. The detail is fun but I’d prefer it in the same fabric as the rest of the pants. I think my favorite pair from this line up, with all things considered, is a mix between the Valparaiso’s, the Brassies and Lowland Joggers (minus the waistband). I love the slimmer fit of the Lowland joggers with the tall cuffs (keep in mind I was directly in between sizes and did size down). The Valparaiso’s would have been a lot better if I shortened the inseam more and the Brassies are a comfortable fit with lots of inseam options.

1. 5 out of 4 – Diane Joggers

This pair was not a top favorite. For how much ease there is in the legs, it’s too fitted across the hips. I would prefer them to be looser overall or slimmed in the leg. The pocket detail also isn’t my favorite and the back yoke seems too skinny.

2. Blank Slate – Skye Joggers

This pair really isn’t too bad in regards to overall fit. A bit more on the slim side though. My main complaint is the higher front rise, squared pockets and a really long inseam despite being based off a 28″ inseam.

3. Greenstyle Creations – Brassies

I’ve made a handful of Brassies and they definitely are a great staple pair of joggers. They aren’t too tight or too loose.

4. Little Lizard King – Valparaiso

These have a romper option, which is pretty neat. It’s a comfortable fit. I should have taken off a little more in the inseam but the overall fit is good. The main thing I don’t love is the pocket opening. I would have preferred a more vertical opening

5. Love Notions – Resolution Bottoms

The projector file is not user friendly at all. I don’t love the look of the contrasting back yoke and I feel like my pair have a lot more ease in the thighs than other pairs that I’ve seen. I also wouldn’t be able to size down since I sewed the smallest size.

6. Lowland Kids – Women’s Joggers

The overall fit is good and I really like the longer cuffs. The way the pattern is laid out makes grading a little more difficult (Bubble grading!). The waistband instructions are terrible IMO. I don’t love the look of the contrasting back yoke. Would have liked a slightly smaller pocket opening.

Do you have a favorite pair out of the joggers from this past week? I’d love to know in the comments below! Stay tuned! The next 6 joggers for regular fit part 2 are the Java Joggers from Peekaboo, Jammin Joggers from Rockerbye Destash, Redwood Joggers from Sew Like My Mom, JJ Joggers from Sinclair, Chelsea Pants from So Sew English and the Hudson Pants from True Bias.

Happy sewing!
